빨간모자와 늑대 Little Red Riding Hood

오페라 <빨간모자와 늑대>는 그림형제의 잘 알려진 우화 <빨간모자>를 바탕으로 하여 미국 작곡가 세이무어 바랍이 작곡하였다. 이 극의 "엄마 말을 잘 듣고, 낯선 사람을 경계하며, 스스로 잘 판단해야 한다"라는 메세지가 오페라의 장르적 특징 안에서 재치있게 보여진다. 특히, 이번 프로덕션은 한국 정서에 맞추어 한글로 직접 번안, 각색하여 아이들에게 쉽게 다가가기 위해 한국동요, 한국어 라임으로 만든 랩, 민요풍의 음악, K-pop의 댄스안무를 곁들여 재미와 감동으로 가깝게 다가간다.

The opera Little Red Riding Hood was composed by American composer Seymour Barab, based on the famous Brothers Grimm fairytale of the same name. Within the engaging framework of opera, the story wittily conveys its core messages: listen to your parents, beware of strangers, and learn to make wise decisions for yourself. In particular, this production has been translated and adapted into Korean to resonate deeply with local audiences. To make the opera effortlessly accessible and fun for children, it features familiar Korean nursery rhymes, Korean-rhyme raps, folk-inspired tunes, and energetic K-pop choreography.

더콜렙(The Collab)은 'We Express Everyday Life Through Art'를 슬로건으로, 일상의 경험을 동시대 공연예술로 확장하는 창작예술단체이다. 오페라, 음악극, 실내악 등 장르를 넘나드는 협업을 통해 가족과 돌봄, 생태와 문화적 다양성 등 우리 시대의 이야기를 새롭게 풀어낸다. 대표작으로 창작오페라 《산후조리원》과 《멸종위기 동물의 사육제》가 있으며, 제41회 FACP(아시아공연예술진흥연맹) Pitch for New Aspects 음악 부문 수상을 통해 국제적 가능성을 인정받았다.

The Collab is a contemporary performing arts collective dedicated to transforming everyday experiences into innovative artistic works under the slogan "We Express Everyday Life Through Art." Through interdisciplinary collaborations spanning opera, music theatre, and chamber music, the company explores contemporary themes such as family, caregiving, ecology, and cultural diversity. Its representative works include the original opera The Postpartum Care Center and Carnival of Endangered Animals. The company was internationally recognized when Carnival of Endangered Animals received the 3rd Prize in the Music Category at the 41st FACP (Federation of Asian Cultural Promotion) Pitch for New Aspects.

창작오페라 산후조리원 The Postpartum Care Center

창작오페라 《산후조리원》은 한국 특유의 산후조리원을 배경으로 서로 다른 삶과 가치관을 지닌 부모들이 갈등과 화해를 통해 함께 성장해 가는 이야기를 담는다. 극작가 최보영과 작곡가 최한별의 협업으로 탄생한 이 작품은 출산 이후의 변화를 여성만의 경험이 아닌 가족 모두의 이야기로 확장하며, 가족과 돌봄, 문화적 다양성이라는 동시대의 주제를 섬세하게 그려낸다. 예술가곡과 현대음악, 팝을 아우르는 음악을 통해 오늘의 관객과 공감하는 새로운 한국 창작오페라를 선보인다.

The Postpartum Care Center is an original chamber opera set in Korea's unique postpartum care centers, portraying the journey of parents from diverse backgrounds as they navigate conflict, empathy, and personal growth. Created through the collaboration of playwright Choi Bo-young and composer Choi Han-byul, the work expands the experience of childbirth beyond motherhood alone, exploring family, caregiving, cultural diversity, and the evolving meaning of parenthood. Blending art song, contemporary classical music, and popular music with an expressive chamber ensemble, the opera offers a fresh and emotionally resonant perspective on contemporary family life.

놀부전 Nolbu-jeon

이 오페라에서 바라본 흥부와 놀부의 관점, 못된 놀부와 착한 흥부, 그리고 못된 놀부는 벌을 받고 착한 흥부는 복을 받는다는 겉으로 드러난 주제와 달리 <놀부전>의 제목에서 보듯이 주제를 다르게 설정했다. 원작인 <흥부전>이 겉으로는 형제간의 우애와 권선징악이라는 도덕적인 주제를 나타내고 있지만, 새로운 <놀부전> 오페라에서는 놀부를 부각시키는 것과 시대를 초월하는 것, 현실과 환상을 넘나드는 차원, 누구나 공감할 수 있는 소재 그리고, 놀부는 바로 우리들 '자신'을 투영한 것임을 강조하고 싶다.

While the original Heungbu-jeon appears on the surface to deal with moral themes such as brotherly love and poetic justice—where the wicked Nolbu is punished and the good Heungbu is rewarded—this opera adopts a different thematic perspective, as indicated by its title, Nolbu-jeon. Beyond the apparent binary of evil Nolbu and good Heungbu, the new opera Nolbu-jeon brings Nolbu to the fore. It emphasizes themes that transcend time, dimensions that cross back and forth between reality and fantasy, and relatable subject matter, ultimately highlighting that Nolbu is a reflection of our own selves.

Founded in 2020, Eum Opera Company, a designated professional performing arts group in Gyeongsangnam-do, serves as a bridge between audiences and musicians, contributing to the development of classical music in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions. The company actively produces creative and unique content, ranging from traditional operas to original crossover works such as the Panpera <Sim Cheong Jeon> and the fairy tale opera <Cinderella>. Furthermore, it brings warm inspiration to the local community through outreach concerts for the culturally underprivileged and ongoing arts education programs, including Lululala Opera.

새아버지와 언니들의 구박 속에서도 착하게 살아가던 신데렐라. 요정 할멈의 마법으로 무도회에 참석한 그녀는 신분을 숨긴 진짜 왕자와 운명적인 사랑에 빠집니다. 하지만 자정을 알리는 종소리에 신데렐라는 유리구두 한 쪽만 남긴 채 황급히 사라집니다. 왕자는 유리구두의 주인을 찾아 온 마을을 뒤지기 시작하는데… 과연 신데렐라는 구두를 찾고 왕자와 사랑을 이룰 수 있을까요?

누오바 오페라단은 2005년 강민우 단장을 주축으로 창단되어, 공연으로 끝나는 오페라를 넘어 한국 오페라 문화의 발전을 이끌고자 노력해왔다. 국내외에서 잘 알려지지 않은 오페라들을 발굴·기획·공연하며 다양한 작품들을 널리 알림으로써 클래식계의 저변을 넓히고자 노력해 왔다. 이러한 예술성과 기획력을 인정받아 대한민국오페라대상에서 대상 2회, 금상 1회를 수상한 이력은 누오바 오페라단의 괄목할 만한 성과일 것이다. 누오바 오페라단은 관객에게 더욱 깊이 있는 예술을 전하기 위해 연구와 창작 활동을 이어가며 새로운 작품을 지속적으로 기획하고 있다.

프랑스 작곡가 자크 오펜바흐의 오페라 <호프만의 이야기>는 시인 호프만이 겪은 세 번의 사랑을 통해 인간의 욕망과 환상, 그리고 예술과 사랑의 의미를 그린 작품이다. 기계인형 올랑피아, 순수한 안토니아, 관능적인 줄리에타와의 사랑은 각각 환상과 순수, 유혹을 상징하며, 호프만은 사랑의 실패를 통해 진정한 예술적 깨달음에 이른다. 환상과 현실이 교차하는 독창적인 구성과 아름다운 선율로 오페라 역사에서 가장 사랑받는 작품 가운데 하나로 평가받는다.

French composer Jacques Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann is an opera that explores human desire, illusion, and the meaning of both art and love through the poet Hoffmann's three ill-fated romances. His encounters with Olympia, the mechanical doll; Antonia, the embodiment of innocence; and Giulietta, the embodiment of sensuality, reflect the themes of illusion, purity, and temptation, respectively. Through each failed romance, Hoffmann ultimately comes to understand both the true meaning of art and himself. With its imaginative fusion of fantasy and reality and its lyrical, captivating score, The Tales of Hoffmann is regarded as one of the most beloved and enduring masterpieces in the operatic repertoire.
